A Study Of The Form "verb" In Modern Chinese Verbs

Sentences using the formal verb "jinxing" in modern Chinese belong to a relatively exceptional sentence form, especially in sentences where the formal verb "jinxing" acts as the verbal predicate. In syntax, semantics, and pragmatics the formal verb " jinxing" has differing characteristics from common verbal predicates. However, the depth of research to date on the subject of this sentence form is insufficient. Using the results of previous research as a foundation, this text analyzes the four forms of sentences using the formal verb "jinxing" by means of a large quantity of corpus data. Furthermore, this text compares sentences using the formal verb " jiayi"; it uses cognitive modeling to describe the process of the realization of meaning for sentences using the formal verb "jinxing"; and it expands the field of research into teaching Chinese as a foreign language by comparing similar terms in Korean with the word "jinxing" The text is divided into six sections, and the content is approximately as follows:The first section is the forward, which begins the text by delimiting the object and scope of the research contained therein. In addition, it introduces the significance of the research while explaining the theoretical and methodological basis for the approach used. Finally details as to the source of the corpus data are given.The second section, summarizes research into the formal verb "jinxing" by laying out previous research literature related to the formal verb "jinxing" and discusses various special characteristics of domestic Chinese research as well as the relative merits and faults of the Korean research situation.The third section, contains a predicate constituent analysis of the formal verb "jinxing". Sentence syntax and semantic meaning of sentences using formal verb "jinxing" and verb object collocations are analyzed. Furthermore, by comparing the syntax of sentences using common verbs and formal verbs the extent of nullification of the formal verb "jinxing" is investigated. The fourth section is an analysis of formal verb’jinxing’sentence forms. It begins with an explanation of the meaning of the different sentence forms of the formal verb "jinxing"; it discusses the syntax and semantic analysis of the four forms of sentences using the formal verb "jinxing" and compares these sentence forms to ones using the formal verb " jiayi". It concludes by looking at the contextual pragmatic functions of formal verb "jinxing"The fifth section compares related sentences in Korean to the formal verb’jinxing’" by presenting words in Korean similar to the formal verb "jinxing"; it compares the syntax, semantics and pragmatics in sentences using the Korean word "hada"; it specifies the errors that Korean speakers display while acquiring the formal verb "jinxing" and explores the value of these findings in the application of teaching Chinese as a second language.The concluding remarks in the sixth section summarize the entire text.
