Modern Chinese "做(zuo)" is a commonly used word in the entry-level Chinese-learning classes for foreign students and it is a word that corresponds to New HSK-1st [grade(tier)] while being a polysemy verb with a wide range of meanings. For foreigners who learn Chinese for the first time, this word is mostly known to serve as "Do" in English, which corresponds to Korean expression "(?)(hada)".Compared to the various parts of speech of Chinese "zuo" and the Korean "hada," the word has various grammatical features such as acting as a verb, suffix, assistant and many others depending on the context."hada" can be used separately when it is used as a main verb but it is used after a formation of conjugation when it is used as a suffix or an assistant. The most important element in the formation of sentence is "preceding element+hada"Generally, a dependent noun, noun, proper noun, noun verb, foreign noun, adverb and more can act as a preceding element. Therefore many Korean students who study Chinese then do understand only the grammatical structure and function of the word resulting in the misuse "zuo" in places where the "zuo" is not required in a sentence, omitting the word, or using "zuo" when it does not suit the expression.In Korea, there are many studies about the word "hada" and many scholars have made various studies about its use. On the other hand, in the case of the Chinese polysemy verb "zuo" does not have enough studies about its use. There are several abstracts that compared’作(zuo)”with "zuo" and verbs with various meanings such as da, gao, gan, nong. Furthermore, the abstracts of the comparison between the Chinese verb "zuo"and Korean "hada" rarely exist.This paper consists of the studies of the meaning, grammar and use of the polysemy verb zuo and "hada" and this paper sets its objective to help Korean students understand the Chinese verb "zuo" better and help them become aware of the errors easily found in Chinese writing, the causes of the error and the proper modern Chinese expressions.This paper has performed2large studies.1. Comparison of Chinese "zuo" and Korean "hada".In the perspective of word and meaning studies, this paper clarified the similarities and differences between the Chinese word "zuo" and the Korean word "hada" as students confuse. Also, the paper made an analysis of the Korean word "hada" being able to be related to not only the Chinese verb "zuo" but also the polysemy with the same meaning of”做(zuo)" such as "打(da),搞(gao),干(gan),弄(nong)" as well as the Chinese verb "进行(jinxing)" when used as the main verb.2. Analysis of common errors of Chinese "zuo" by Korean students studying Chinese.The paper conducted a survey on Korean students studying Chinese to find out what kind of errors are made commonly among Koreans when generating a sentence using the Chinese verb "zuo" Based on the grammatical functions of "zuo" the survey was composed with classified example and the paper also attempted to make an explanation about why such errors occur at a high rate. The subjects of the survey were classified according to their period of Chinese studies and the paper made an analysis of the error rate, error type and their causes according to different groups of subjects.With the objective of serving as a valuable reference material for the international education of Chinese, this paper shall contribute to the teaching of Chinese words for Chinese instructors and further help Korean students studying Chinese.
