As the frontier and breakthrough of discipline development, the teaching material has been in a conspicuous position for recent years. The textbook has a direct impact on Chinese promotion,a good teaching material of teaching Chinese as a foreign language make it easier for teacher to teach and student to learn. As a transition from elementary to advanced, Intermediate textbook plays a transitional and vital role in teaching Chinese as a foreign language textbook system.Both of the following books “The road to success” and “Boya Chinese” are the new generations of teaching Chinese as a foreign language. However, the differences of them are relatively large. This paper compares the overall arrangement, structural frame, text, new words, grammar and practice of this two textbooks, analyzes the advantages and disadvantages, choose the goods and avoid the shortcomings, to provide some references for future Chinese textbook compilation.
