With the development of the domestic cultural industries and the growth of new media industry, the documentary is increasingly becoming an integral part of the cultural industry. Just like the movie industry, it wins a unique opportunity of the market. Especially broadcasting CCTV documentary channel, the rise of private production companies as well as the development of China’s documentary-these bring a new opportunity for the growth of China’s documentary. And under the big data environments, new media has a unique condition, and begin to participate in the link of documentary film production and distribution. The combination of documentaries and new media will greatly facilitate the process of documentary marketization. However, in the process of it, a series of problems will inevitably occur, such as the crudely-made documentaries, the under-development of the enactment of policy and the cultivation of the talents in the trend of marketization, etc.This paper, based on the description of the basic situation of the domestic market-oriented documentary, analyze the basic elements of the documentary market; points out the problems currently encountered in the documentary market; and come up with the corresponding solutions. I hope the documentary can pursue innovation and evolution in the course of the marketization, take good advantage of the opportunity in domestic policy at this stage, integrate with new media better and promote the perfection of the entire documentary industry.
