Due to the relatively isolated and remote location of Liaodong, there was a huge difference between with other northern border regions on military grain supply in the Ming Dynasty. Firstly, Liaodong rarely got Grain tax supply from Northern areas, as a remedy, it got more"money" from the government. Besides military garrison supply, the direct financial support from the government was more important to Liaodong, which was more notable when the system of milliary garrison supply is disintegrate in the mid Ming Dynasty. However, the supply from the neighboring areas was more to the other northern border regions. Compared with other northern border regions, the capacity of grain production of Liaodong was remarkable, as a result, a localized structure of the military food supply has formed. In the period of Yong Le and Xuan De,the grain supply of Liaodong was self-sufficiency. It was impossible to the other northern border regions, which relied more on Grain tax supply from Northern areas at that time. When more and more "money" came into Liaodong, it was grain from private land which supported the frail system of military grain supply.
