In recent years, more and more people in the world start to learn Chinese. Until now, there are more than 400 Confucius Institutes and 600 Confucius Classrooms opening all around the world. The increasing of the amount of Chinese learner has made a big challenge in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language(TCFL). More arguments about how to spread Chinese culture through the teaching language in a more efficient way has been risen up as a hotpot among academic sphere.The traditional Chinese clothing plays an important role in Chinese culture, esp. the traditional culture. Dating back to the ancient times, Clothing,as a mark of distinguish, has been bearing political color since the Yellow Emperor who came up with the idea that hanging sleeves make one’s country peaceful and prosperous. Besides, clothing also embodies the worldview,aesthetics,and philosophy ideas of ancient people. It can be told that traditional Chinese clothing is the carrier of our upright national spirit and culture. However, there’s few investigations of Chinese clothing in TCFL.Ming Dynasty is the last feudal dynasty ruled by Han nationalities. Ming’s costume,as the epitome of Chinese culture which combing the wisdom of successive dynasties,has made a great influence to many other countries. This essay is going to construct the design and conception of cultural teaching by exploring clothing in Ming dynasty as an example.The paper is divided into five parts. The first part is introduction, which is going to introduce the related background, research review, the purpose of the research and some related difficulties. The second part is the analysis of questionnaire, which is going to analyze the overseas students’ attitude and requirements to Chinese traditional clothing culture. The third part is the general situation of course design, which will expound the course design form teaching object, teaching objectives, teaching resources, teaching principles, teaching contents, teaching methods, curriculum types and class period. The forth part is going to explore a teaching case of Ming’s costume, based on the culture of Ming’s headdress. The fifth part is the conclusion.Hoping this research could provide new ideas and references for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language and could make contributions to the culture teaching of foreign students.
