The researches on the relationships between Chinese characters and words had the golden age of Qing Dynasty, developing two thousand years since Qin Dynasty. HuangKan is a famous exegesis scholar in modern times, who spent all his lifetime on the study of Shuo Wen Jie zi. His nephew compiled the annotations of Shuo Wen Jie zi, such as "A Tong B "into a book, named Shuo Wen Tong Wen. The materials arranged according to the 540 radicals of Chinese Characters. Shuo Wen Tong Wen, showed that HuangKan adopt a more cautious attitude to induce word families from Shuowen Jiezi, on the basis of Zhang Taiyan’s Wenshi.The researches on the relationship between Chinese characters and words are divided into two aspects:sound and meaning. It is necessary for us to carry out a thorough and detailed study on one of the aspects,in order to discover more rules and characteristics about them.There are no systematic monograph on the phonological characteristic of Shuo Wen Tong Wen, until now. This paper selects the phonological characteristic of Shuo Wen Tong We as the research object,chooses the 19 ancient phonologies and 28 rhyme categories as the standard of analysis, through detailed investigation, description to increase the understanding and awareness of HangKan’s theory. Shuo Wen Gu Yin Pu is choosen as the reference tool books.The paper is divided into the following sections:Chapter one is an introduction, have a brief description of purpose and significance, review of related researche,sources of corpus, standard of analysis and methods in this paper.Chapter two describes the process of phonological materials arrangement of Shuo Wen Tong Wen, and analyses the same pronunciation materials.Chapter three makes a deep research on the vocal switch of Shuo Wen Tong Wen, including the consonants in the same place of articulation, the Houyin with Yayin, the Sheyin with Chiyin, the Houyin with Sheyin,Chiyin,Chunyin, the Yayin with Sheyin,Chiyin,Chunyin, the Chunyin with Sheyin,Chiyin.Chapter four has a deep research,description,statistics on the rhyme revolve of Shuo Wen Tong Wen including the materials containing fewer words and materials containing more words.Chapter five analyses the polymerization rules, dissociation rules of phonological characteristic in Shuo Wen Tong Wen,and has a quantitative analysis about phonology.
