A Study On The Function Of Lukacs' General Category

Lukacs is regarded as one of the founders of Western Marxism, whose essay of History and Class Consciousness named as Western Marxism Bible. Where Lukacs described General Category as the basis of his theory, totality has became one of the most important terms in Western Marxism later. In this thesis, firstly, Carding of its new connotation defined by Lukacs, origin of the totality and translation status of it, therefore definitely shows his uniqueness understanding and utility of the category; Secondly, explanation of function of totality, classifying in various level, and have a clear understanding of every level of its function, and proper comment on his concept and function of totality.
