Practice Totality Return - Young Lukacs Totality Critical Thinking

Abstract:Lukacs is well-known as one of the most important Western Marxist scholars in the twentieth century. History and Class Consciousness makes him renowned in academia and causes a massive western Marxist thoughts. Considering Lukacs’way of thinking, totality runs through it. Lukacs holds the essence and core of Marxism is dialectics, the core of dialectic is totality. Totality contains critical intermediary and dynamic subject-object relations. He hopes to grasp the core spirit of the Marxism through re-propose the totality and renew the consciousness of the proletarian revolution and promote revolution progress. Undoubtedly, Lukacs’totality category has unquestionable progressive significance and his efforts to restore the true spirit of Marxism is worthy of recognition. However, his totality category is still a kind of illusion as the product of the transition from Hegelian to Marxist. The fundamental reason is that his theory vision lacks a practical dimension. That we will certainly return to the theories of Marxism to seek a true practice-totality. Marx’s practice-totality always deems the human beings and human society as an organic overall and presents a dynamic developing process. The triple relations that the development of human and nature, man and man, man and themselves unfolded and developed by overall practice activities. The real basis of the subject-object relations and unique survival way of human beings is the practice-totality. Marx’s practice-totality is the real process of human beings’social history and it is the highest goal of the human society’s development, and it also points to the people’s all-round development.This thesis outlines the real-totality thoughts with the perspective of criticizing Lukacs’totality theory through unfolding Lukacs’totality thoughts and construct a dialogue between Marx and Lukacs.
