Research On The Evolution Mechanism Of Mass Incident Based On Social Combustion Theory

With the deepening of marketization reform, the accumulation of social wealth and the great adjustment of previous social structure and interest relationship, many invisible social contradictions keep coming out and deteriorating. Various contradictions and disputes occur frequently, but the idea, system and method of China’s public administration failed to keep pace with it, as a result, the public have no choice but to take approaches outside the system to express their appeal, solve their problems and let off their steam. Those events have aroused attention among relevant government sectors and scholars, and the concept of “group events” was put forward. Those events not only directly threaten life and property safety of the public,cause terrified and unsafe social mentality, but also make government lose its credibility and have huge negative impact on current social order.With the social combustion theory as the analytical framework and blasting fuses,burning substances and combustion improvers as the analytical clues, the evolution mechanism of China’s group events is analyzed and extracted. Group events in China are currently taking on characteristics such as a constantly growing total number,regional distribution, relatively short time of duration, diversified participant,increasingly complicated factors that caused the contradiction, various fighting forms etc. and there appear certain rules and features during the specific evolution. The long-term unsolved interest demands and the involvement of sensitive topics are main features of blasting fuses; the three important burning substances are interest conflicts among groups caused by interest differentiation, the political ecological environment deterioration caused by bureaucratic corruption and the absence of positive social mainstream value reflected by value alienation; as combustion improvers, spreading of rumors, media guidance and government measures act on social opinion and have significant influence on the development of group events. Thereby, the model of evolution mechanism of China’s group events can be established and the reference indexes be summarized so as to come up with relevant suggestions for government to deal with group events.
