A Study On The Spiritual Demand Of The Elderly In College Community

The promulgation of the new " Elderly Rights Law ", put forward to care for the elderly’s spiritual needs, it will enhance the elderly’s spiritual needs to the legal level. Family members should care about their parents’spiritual needs; the employers should provide convenience for children to visit their parents. Therefore, the protection of elderly spiritual needs requires each related groups’ cooperation on the elderly spiritual services. Elderly group in university community belongs to knowledge group which have high requirement for spiritual service with high school education and high homogeneity. In addition, since the proportion of the empty nest families is relatively high in the university community, the elderly people’s needs for spiritual service is more urgent. To carry out the spirit of the needs of the elderly investigation is necessary, this research takes the university community elderly subjects, it was carried out in the spiritual needs of the elderly.To this study, on one hand, to collect data by questionnaire, and the data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and correlation analysis, on the other hand the data obtained by interviews, combined with relevant theoretical analysis, with a view to the problems and limitations on supplemental questionnaire.For the university community elderly spiritual needs, this study started from three perspective to analyze influencing factors on the elderly spiritual needs six dimensions:first, the personal characteristics, such as age, culture level and health level; second, family relationships, such as relationships with their children, relationship with relatives; third, society factor, such as neighborhood, community participation. Through the analysis of influencing factors, combining with the characteristic of the community elderly spiritual needs, measures to satisfy the demand of college community elderly people are put forward: first, the elderly themselves need to keep healthy physically and psychologically;, second, family members should strengthen the attention to the elderly spiritual needs; third, community should develop regular service or community activities; fourth, school should cultivate college students volunteer team.
