In recent years the development of charity in China is rapid, and the development of privatefoundations is particularly impressive. As an important force of nonprofit organizations, privatefoundations, with high flexibility, professional, wide surface coverage advantage, narrowing thegap between the community, to make up for lack of government functions and promote socialharmony is of great significance. At present, China is in a period of social transformation, whosesocial development is facing many problems, and the development of private foundations andother social organizations to solve social problems has unique resources and advantages.As an important part of social organization, the influence of private foundation is notlimited to charitable donations, but also in scientific research, education, culture, arts, health, etc..Areas of modern foundation can relate to almost be said to be all-encompassing, covering almostall aspects of society. Compared to the government and enterprises, foundations are morecutting-edge. For example, in the field of science, whether natural science or social science,when they have some new research pioneering invention, the first to give funding is often thefoundation, they push a lot of research "from scratch" in begin.However, due to a short history, the external environment and their own inadequacy, therehas been many problems in the development process. This paper attempts to analysis the statusof private foundations in China and other countries, combining the various methods of socialresearch to explore the problems and challenges which China’s private foundations faced in theirdevelopment process, and propose relevant measures for the development of private foundationsto provide some suggestions.This paper is divided into three levels. The first level includes the first chapter, describingthe research background, significance, research methods and current research results in the fieldsof academia made private foundations. The second level includes the second chapter to the fifthchapter, which is the subject of the article. The second chapter introduces the concept of thedefinition of private foundations, and is the similarities and differences between the privatefoundations and the public foundations and the origin and historical mission and other basicinformation. The third chapter discusses the current development of China’s private foundations. The fourth chapter analyzes the development of China’s private foundations encountered in theoutside world and their own shortcomings hinder. The fifth chapter focuses on the advancedexperience of the United States, the Netherlands and Taiwan, China in terms of privatefoundations. The third level is Chapter6, combined with problems and relevant experience,making some feasible suggestions on private foundations for our following development.
