As its configuration of many network equipments is very tedious, the traditional QoS is prone to go wrong. In this situation, QoS policy including traffic classifier, traffic behavior and strategy came into being. Traffic classifier is used to identify the type of message, traffic behavior is used to define QoS actions which aim at a certain kind of message, QoS policy is used to combine the designated traffic classifier and traffic behavior to achieve convenient configuration by users and then apply to a certain port.Because it's unable to rely on manual operation to manage the entire large network and it's necessary to shield the differences in large networks caused by the different manufacturers' network equipment, SNMP and MIB gained wider and wider application. The advantages of configuring QoS policy by MIB are obvious, which is also this thesis's method.The main concern of this thesis is to configure and manage QoS policy by means of MIB.First, this thesis analyzes QoS policy' s model characteristics and then according to the characteristics, designs MIB model to achieve various elements of QoS policy as well as the operation process to manage and configure QoS policy effectively by set, get and get-next.Second, this thesis has a detailed study of MIB's definition, loading and its various elements' design. Meanwhile, according to RFC, designs algorithms to operate MIB such as get and get-next query operation, to modify, create, delete table and reveals the principles of walk, get-bulk's mass enquiry. Moreover, streamlines the algorithm by explaining and using anti-fault handling of SNMP protocol stack. The algorithm and design being universal as well as the explanation of the expandable part makes this issue work as a reference for other MIB subject.Finally, this issue is confirmed and MIB model's design as well as its algorithm is proved to be right by experiment.
