The Research And Implementation Of SNMP Agent For Workstation Controller

Along with the unceasing development of industrial automation technology and the widely application of Industrial Ethernet technology in workshop, lots of equipments used for production and detection appear in the workshop of many enterprises while the production efficiency is improved. Workshop layer network on-site equipment is quite various, and its port is differnet from each orther. All kinds of equipments require mutual understanding and adapting to the other equipment parameters information's change relatively, otherwise, it will not be effective or even normal work. In addition, the workshop network system is often dynamic changing, it's necessary to adjust the network configuration as the application changes and equipment upgrade. It requires adequate technical means to support such adjustments and changes, so the network and devices can work more effectively.The variety of equipments in workshop tier of modern enterprise and particularity of Workshop Layer Network make much more demands for how to achieve timely and effective management to these on-site devices and Workshop Layer Network. In Network field, because of its design simplicity and easy implementation Simple Network Mangement Protocol (SNMP) is supported by many enterprises and has been defacto industrial standard. So it is necessary and important to manage On-site devices and Workshop Layer Network with SNMP for improving the manmengment efficientcy. It also becomes a research hotspot.In view of the management requirment and characteristic of workshop layer network and workshop on-site equipments, this paper has analysed the research current situation home and abroad for Network Mangement Technology, Universal Network Mangement SoftWare and Workshop Layer Network Management Solution Scheme, introduced SNMP Management Model into workshop layer network, proposed workshop layer network management scheme based on SNMP, designed the framework of above-mentioned scheme and analysed the key research problems of the scheme.Based on the analysis of workshop on-site equipments'manageability, this paper has summarized the management need of SNMP agent for Workstation Controller. According to the need and the software and hardware resources on the Workstation Controller, it has designed the architecture of the agent and analysed the each part's funcion. Aiming at the management requirment of No IP devices and the SMI's limitation, the paper has improved SMI and constructed the MIB, defined the trap messages based on the management objects of SNMP agent for Workstation Controller.According to the results of analysing main development tools this paper has implemented the SNMP agent on Workstation Controller with NET-SNMP. At last, the implementation result of the scheme and agent system in a motorcycle factory in Chongqing has been introduced. The paper has also analysed the scheme's effectiveness to the factory and its promotion value.
