With the variety and complicacy of network devices, the demand for themanagement of network device is gradually improving. How to give the heterogeneousnetwork and different functions equipments a unified and efficient management hasbecome a major issue. The Simple Network Management Protocol SNMP-based networkmanagement system is gradually becoming the most widely used network managementsolutions. The network management system architecture based on SNMP, the Agent partis the source of management system’s data. If some devices like Optical transceiverwhich are not managed by SNMP-based management system want to be managed bySNMP-based management system must use a network proxy system to complete thisfunction.This thesis designs and implements the network agent system based on SNMP of theOptical transceiver. Through the analysis of the SNMP protocol management architecture,the thesis structures the basic framework of the agent system and software structure. Atthe same time, it also gives the implementations of each module of the SNMP networkagent system, including the construction of the MIB file and how to write the dataacquisition, the module of querying and controlling the device status, and the trap module.Then the thesis states the process of the configuration and compilation about the Agentsystem and the details of the expansion agency of the system.Finally, this agent system is tested from the agency functions like getting the stationof the devices, setting the station of the devices and returning the trap information to themanagement System. It is carried out to verify its feasibility and practicality of agencyfunctions.
