Studies On Fujian's And Taiwan's Agricultural Products Export Structure

Based on the theory of supply & demand and the theories of export structure in international trade, the author used some trade indicators & indices, such as the export similarity index, export diversification (or concentration) index to analyze the agricultural products export structure of Fujian and Taiwan. The results showed that there is similarity between the variety of Fujian's and Taiwan's agricultural products export structure to some extent, and their export destination are concentrate in a few developed and newly industrialized countries. At the same time, we can see from the results that Taiwan is inferior to Fujian in agricultural products diversification in varieties, whose is more concentrated in some agricultural varieties. While Fujian is inferior to Taiwan in diversification in export markets, whose agricultural products are more concentrated in a few markers.Then, the author studied the reasons for the change of Fujian's and Taiwan's agricultural products export structure from two sides: the one is supply and the other is demand, i.e. agricultural industries structure and the demand of agricultural international markets. The analyses results told us that: (1) Fujian's and Taiwan's agricultural products export structure are influenced by their own agricultural industry structure and the demand of international markets of agricultural products also; (2) Fujian's and Taiwan's agricultural industry structure's similarity is one of reasons to their similarity in agricultural products export structure in varieties; (3) the agricultural products import markets is concentrated in a few developed and new industrialized countries is another reason that makes Fujian's and Taiwan's agricultural products compete in these markets;(5) Fujian is more sensitive than Taiwan to the change of demand of agricultural products.The author also used some index &indices to analyze the competitiveness of Fujian's and Taiwan's agricultural products in international markets of agricultural products. These index & indices are Market Share, Export growth Rates, Normalized Trade Balance (NTB), Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA). The results demonstrated that the two are producing and exporting their agricultural products and they are further adjusting their agricultural industry structure basically according to their comparative advantages so as to give full play to their comparative advantages and make them change into competitive advantages.After these analyses, the author analyzed and prospected the agricultural internationalmarkets. And the author used regression analyses and simple moving mean analyses to forecast the changes of Fujian's and Taiwan's agricultural industry in a few years. The results demonstrated that their structure will not change greatly, and these change will only occur inside the industries with adjusting some of their varieties. If the intemationl markets of agricultural products will not change dramatically, Fujian's and Taiwan's agricultural products export structure will keep stable.At last, the author proposed some advices according to above analyses to further and smoothing the corporation between Fujian and Taiwan in agricultural field. Some of these advices are: (1) the two should implement the tactics of diversification in varieties and markets; (2) strengthen their agricultural associations' connection and corporation; (3) further adjusting their agricultural industry structure in accordance with their comparative advantages; (4) adopt different corporation models in accordance with their agricultural products' competitive advantages in international markets in order to explore markets and get profit together, etc.
