In contemporary world the idea of environmental protection and sustainable development is exerting a tremendous influence on all aspects of world political and economic affairs. The issues related to environment and trade are drawing increasing attention from people. The export volume of Guangdong province has occupied one third in China and the foreign trade dependence has increased from 68 % to 83%. With the entrance of WTO and the start-up of CEPA, the manufacture industry of Pearl River Delta will continue to develop speedily, which will be a great help to the economic development of Guangdong. On the other hand, the pollution of Guangdong has been very severe. Has the increase of export worsened the environment? And what will the change of trade pattern, the methods of conducting trade and the structure of exporting enterprise ownership do to the environment? Beneficial or harmful? The thesis is trying to answer these questions. The environment effects of exporting trade can be analyzed as goods' effect, scale's effect and the structure's effect. But no last word has been given theoretically to the environment effects of exporting trade. With regard to the environment effects of exporting trade in Guangdong, no conclusion has been made. An investigation of these problems is, obviously, of immense theoretical and practical value. The thesis consists of the following: the environment effect of trade volume, the environment effect of trade pattern, the environment effect of methods of conducting trade and the structure of exporting enterprise ownership. The finding is the increase of exporting trade will do harm to environment but the sustainable optimize of trade pattern and terms of trade will benefit to environment. The harmonically development between exporting trade and environment can be realized only if the environmental regulation and law can be implemented effectively. At the same time, the connection between free trade and environment can strengthen the environmental policy, which will benefit to our environment in the future. The paper gives out the recommends to the policy in the end.
