Research On Evolution And Dynamic Mechanism Of The Small Towns In Developed Rural Areas

The study of small towns play an important role in the Chinese social and economic domain since reform and opening. Taking Taicang County as an example, this paper studies those county towns in developed area.Firstly, through an analysis of the course and pattern in the evolution of the small towns in Taicang, the author point out that before liberation, the small towns of Taicang ,densely distributed though, developed at a slow pace, and by contrast, ever since liberation, its spatial evolution demonstrates a change from the balanced pattern to the dispersed one and further toward the hierachical pattern.Secondly, by analyzing the current pattern of the Taicang county system, this thesis point out that: The process of urbanization in Taicang county advances quickly at a high level; The scales of the small towns are getting more and more polarized, the center-town has high primacy ratio; The function structure of Taicang has formed; The spatial structure of Taicang has taken on the appearance of network.Finally, the author reveal the evolution mechanisms of the small towns of Taicang from the following perspectives: globalization and it's relevant influence, the economic increase and the changes in economic structure, the innovations of various social systems, the radiant impact delivered by the cities around and the planning of such basic infrastructure as traffic.The analysis made so far reveals the problems cropping up during the evolution of Taicang county, which can be summarized as follows: A. the problem of center-town; B. the problem of administrative division; C. the inflow of the floating population etc; For the sake of a resolution to the previous problems, the author expounds on such suggestions as strengthening and acceleration of the speed of the development of Taicang center-town, improving the aggregation capacity of the towns, positively encouraging farmers to live in towns, and intensifying the administration and guidance of the floating population.Eventually, the author points out that the orientation of town development in the developed regions is to implement the scientific views of development and to development according to the "five unified planning".
