Under the global background of rapid growth of knowledge economy, network economy and information technology; it happens too much changes to the Organization. Many new kinds of organizations are different in structure or in form, however, they have the same two goals: first, to decrease or control the complexity caused by environment; second, to increase organization's flexibility so that it can adapt to the dynamic environment. Modularization theory can help that. In the reality, which organization component needs modularization and how to make them more modular are the key problems facing to the organization designers. This paper builds an index system of measuring the extent to organization modularization that can be used in the researches of modularization, and also conducts the empirical studies on the relationship between organizational modularity and organizational effectiveness. Finally this paper draws conclusions: (1) The index system of measuring the extent to organization modularization is reasonable and practical; (2) Organization modularization affects organization effectiveness directly; (3) Organization output modularization affects organization structure directly. |
