Study On The Application Of Lean Production In CSR Sifang Locomotive & Rolling Stock Co., Ltd

Lean production system is a manufacturing methodology developed originally forToyota, Japan in 1960's. In 1973, this methodology contributed a lot to bring Toyotathrough the first energy crisis, which drew attention of manufacturing enterprises ofother countries and was gradually adopted in Japanese-owned enterprises and localenterprises in Europe and U.S.A. Lean production created the miracle of reconstructionof industries in 20th century and was spread as a new generation of industrial revolutionin high-tech sectors such as automobile, aviation, electronics, etc. The idea of leanproduction also walked out of its birthplace, manufacturing, to be diffused and appliedin different sectors as a general management philosophy. The lean production modeimpacts and restructures the conventional idea about large scale series treatment andhierarchical management formed since a hundred years ago. It is changing our way ofwork, increasing the efficiency of different social activities of human beings and savingthe consumption of resources. It has become the golden rule of the new turn ofmanagement revolution.This thesis investigates, studies and summarizes the advanced and successful leanproduction systems in the world and, combining the actuality of production of Chineserailway enterprises and surrounding the tenet of "eliminating waste", incorporates thelean production method into the management system of enterprise and tried to changethe management philosophy and improve the management level by the way ofimproving product flow and processing arrangement. According to the trialimplementation and evaluation of the lean production method in Bogie Plant of CSRSifang Locomotive & Rolling Stock Co., Ltd, using the studying methods such as caseanalysis and analogy, this article studies the feasibility of applying lean manufacturingmode in rail transportation equipment manufacturing to explore a way of application ofthe most advanced production management concept and methodology of the world inCSR Sifang Locomotive & Rolling Stock Co., Ltd, an important base of R&D,manufacturing and exportation of Chinese rail transportation equipment.
