Research On The Development Of Changchun Automobile Industrial Cluster From Global Value Chain

Automobile industry, as the characteristic and pillar industry in Changchun, passing through more than 50 years development, has made indelible contribution to Changchun's and even Jilin Province's economic development. However at the same time, it is the fact of life that Changchun automobile industry doesn't have competitive power. Therefore, how to enhance Changchun automobile industry competition is the focal question that puts in front of people. Precisely under such background, this paper studies Changchun automobile industrial cluster from the global value chain angle, according to Changchun automobile industry own characteristic, and experience from abroad automobile industry cluster. The aim of this paper is to offer practicable strategy in terms of improving Changchun automobile industry competition.This paper takes Changchun automobile industry as the research object, takes the global value chain as the research tool, and takes the construction and development of Changchun automobile industry cluster as the research goal. With reference to the relative theories of regional economics, management science and industrial economics, using the tools of normative analysis and investigates, this paper has tried to construct the framework of development of Changchun automobile cluster, in order to offer completely feasible blue print.Besides the introduction and the conclusion, this paper divides into four chapters altogether:Chapter one, the summary on related theory literature. Enclosing the question which the paper try to solve, this chapter has reviewed and summarized three related literatures as follows: the automobile industry cluster, the automobile value chain as well as industrial cluster from the global value chain.Chapter two, the case studies on overseas automobile industrial cluster from global value chain. This part has studied two typical automobile industrial clusters in the world, namely Toyota automobile industrial cluster and Detroit automobile industrial cluster. These case studies can demonstrate that the success of well-developed automobile industrial cluster in foreign country ties in with perfect global value chain. Therefore, it has important significance in principal and in practical to study automobile industrial cluster from global value chain.Chapter three, the developmental framework of Changchun automobile industrial cluster. This chapter plays vital part in the whole paper. Firstly, it has studied the feasibility of the development of Changchun automobile industrial cluster. Secondly, it proposed that two steps should be followed to form persistent competition of Changchun automobile industrial cluster. The first step is the insertion of low-end manufacture link in VW global value chain, so as to form Changchun automobile industrial cluster encircling manufacture link. The second step is the development of Changchun value chain on the basis of the first step.
