With the development of economic globalization, industrial clusters appear in all parts of the world as a kind of upgrade mode of economic organization. Its growth momentum and potential are highly valued. What’s more, it has entered the central position of the national industrial development and become a global force. Along with the pace of reform and opening up, developed countries has carried out a large number of industrial transfer to China. A large number of local industrial clusters have emerged in China and been embedded in the global value chain division of labor system. It plays a prominent role in enhancing local competitive advantage and stimulating economic growth. It’s moreover an important growth pole for local governments. However, due to Chinese industrial clusters themselves and Multi-National Corporation of developed countries’blockading on the Chinese enterprises technological innovation, Chinese enterprises in the global value chain is locked in the lower part of the global value chain division. It leads that the low end of Chinese industrial cluster can only create low added value.At present, the value chain’s separation and reconstruction in the global scope is accelerating. Global value chain shows a big trend of delayering, including tissue delayering, channel delayering, supply chain delayering. They all are accelerating and developing, which provides an unprecedented opportunity for the developing countries’ industrial clusters to embed the global value chain. In particular, some of the professional furniture manufacturing enterprises in the furniture industry cluster which are driven by the network economy have appeared the trend of transformation pattern with professional furniture customization, informational transformation, and small manufacturing. They also have an upgrade path with the function and brand innovation for the middle class. The customized, flexible upgrade along with the vertical integration model of value chain based on intensive and standardized value, provides a choice for the upgrading of the furniture industry and support for the upgrading of industrial clusters.This paper takes Nankang’s furniture industry cluster as an example and analyzes the key factors and the changing trend of the global value chain in the furniture industry. Through the research on the case and the development trend of Italian and American furniture industry cluster, this paper analyzes the core role of the design organization and the exhibition system for the upgrading of the furniture industry cluster. On this basis, it contrasts the path selection of the furniture industry cluster to break through the low end of the global value chain. This paper suggests that, in order to upgrade the furniture industry cluster in Ganzhou, the design organization should be treated as a breakthrough. It will realize the value chain’s left extension. It also suggests that, promoting cross-border trade and offshore settlement will promote the value chain’s right extension. Improving the furniture manufacturing chain can achieve the vertical integration of manufacturing processes. The establishing of public trading platform and investment policy oriented will improve the elements of protection. It is hoped that the analysis will be helpful to the decision makers.
