Entering the 21st century, small and medium sized enterprises have been the most active factor in the foundation of the social economy, in the social economy deposit development and prosper in each country. At the same time, the Electronic Commerce, as the new economical product in new times, has already become the focal point of attention and use for multitudinous enterprises. The development of E-Commerce has provided good opportunities and the platforms for the competition of small and medium sized enterprises with the large enterprises. This paper analyzes the present situation and the future development tendency of E-Commerce and introduces the actualities and the existed problems in developing the E-Commerce in small and medium sized enterprises in China. The huge market opportunities brought to small and medium sized enterprises are discussed. The urgency to utilize E-Commerce in small and medium sized enterprises is presented. By understanding these opportunities and making full use of services provided by information technology, small and medium sized enterprises is more actively in developing the E-Commerce, thus in an invincible position in the intense market competition.This paper is composed of four parts. The first part presents the research background, research methods and the significance of the research.The second part summarizes the elementary theories on E-Commerce. The concept, classification and the present development situation in domestic and foreign are introduced.The third part makes clear the definition of the concept of small and medium sized enterprises. The features of the small and medium sized enterprises are summarized. The urgent need of small and medium sized enterprises in developing E-Commerce facing the intense market competition is analyzed. Simultaneously, the existed problems in developing the E-Commerce of small and medium sized enterprises are pointed out.The fourth part firstly makes an introduction of the concept and the different classified methods of E-Commerce modes. The comparison of the advantages and disadvantages of each kind of E-Commerce mode classification method is carried on. The manufacturing industry is taken as an example, and according to the characteristics of small and medium sized enterprises in China, the selection of the E-Commerce development modes are proposed. For instance they may use theElectronic Purchase, The Third Party Platform Mode, The Specialization E-Commerce (ASP) Application Pattern, The cooperation Platform and so on. The good and bad points in utilizing these modes in small and medium sized manufacturing enterprises are analyzed.The final part of the paper is conclusion and prospect. To develop E-Commerce in small and medium sized enterprises is an inevitable trend. The inside and outside conditions are not so perfect today, small and medium sized enterprises have to act according to the profession characteristics and the enterprise conditions to adopt the appropriate E-Commerce mode, thus to impel the E-Commerce development of small and medium sized enterprises.
