The theory of constraints (TOC ) is a systems-management philosophy developed by Eliyahu M.Goldratt since the early 1980s in a series of nonfiction books, articles, and novels. The fundamental thesis or TOC is that constraints determine the performance or any system and that any system contains only few constraints.A constraint is anything that limits a system' s performance relative to itsgoal. For example, a production bottleneck that limits the overall profitabilityof a manufacturing company can be considered a constraint. TOC advocatesemphasize the importance of constraints and insist that managers should focuson these constraints rather than on product costs.TOC have a series of way and tools, these way and tools could help manges to discriminate and solve the constraint. This article provides the thinking prooess, the five-step of TOC, the deference betwecn theTOC and traditional costing theory and how to use TOC in printing industry.
