From the beginning of the seventies of the 20th century, psychologist David McClelland of Harvard University firstly proposed the competency concept in his epoch-making paper "Testing for Competency rather than for intelligence". Since then, research on the competency and the application has immediately been the rage the western nation. In recent years, academe and some enterprises of our country start to introduce, study and utilize this theory and the method one after another. So it becomes a new focus in the human resources management theory and practice. This paper chooses the competency theory and the method using in the training as a thesis, and explores the application in assessing training needs choosing training method and evaluating training. Then it brings forward some practical thought on the based of analyzing the problem and reason occurring in management.First, this paper reviews domestic and external research on the training and competency. It summarizes the related main viewpoint and the tendency. Then, it theoretically analyzes the basic content of training and competency, systematically recounts the main process of training and the structure and the method of competency, and elaborates the possibility of the mutual dissolution between training and competency. This paper discusses the process and the method applying competency in training, initially builds the basic frame for theory analysis. The purpose of the academic research is to solve the actual problem. The next thing in this paper is to use aforementioned theory and method to analyze the actual instance in the training, and to find the problem and reason. Then, it gives some countermeasure and advice combining with case.The innovation of this paper lies in systematically discussing the competency theory and the application of correlative model in the entire training process of enterprise. The innovation also lies in proposing the new idea and measure to improve training of. It is advantageous to expand the researching vision of training theory, the applying field of the theory and methodology of characteristic theory. It is also advantageous to enhance the validity of training of enterprise.
