The project management maturity model (PMMM) is a systematic method of appraising the ability of organization in project management. It is very important for us to do research on it for improving the project management ability and the market competitiveness.Based on deeply unserstanding theories of project management, this disertation systematically studies the concept, meaning, background, development trend of the project management maturity model, and makes a detailed comparison among several kinds of commonly used project management maturity models, which has laid the theoretical foundation to formulating an unique project management maturity model (CN-PMMM )being suited to China's condition. The dissertation constructs a new project management maturity model, creating a new level system, a set of criteria, and desides an indicator system for the evaluation by using the AHP methodology. The paper then does an empirical research on using the new model to evaluate a typical organization in China for verifying the effectiveness of the new model. The reearch indicates that PMMM is a effective management tool for organizations to improve their project management efficiency and effectiveness, and an important way for them to increase their competitiveness. To be suited to the conditions of China, a new PMMM should be developed for guiding organizations in China in project management practices and improving their capabilities, which then provides a feasible path tool for organizations to improve theiro competitiveness. |
