During development of the oilfields, real-time monitoring for each parameter of thewells and pipelines has been paid more attention. How to find and solve the oil productionbreakdowns and accidents timely and effectively is a key research direction for digitaloilfield. In recent years, network technique and wireless sensor network technology basedon ZigBee are both developing rapidly, which provides a good technical support for thisresearch area. Due to the special circumstances of oilfield, the study of low-power routingprotocol for wireless sensor network has very important significance, so does the study ofscientific and reasonable monitoring network system for oilfield parameter. These aspectswere deeply studied in this paper.Firstly, considering that AODVjr routing protocol has relatively large routingoverhead in the processes of route establishment and route maintenance, an improvedrouting protocol was studied. The routing protocol was improved by reducing redundantrouting request packet (RREQ) and shortening the lifetime of failure routes, in this way,we could reduce the routing overhead of the protocol. What’s more, the improved routingprotocol was compared with the original protocol by using the simulation software namedNS2, the results of the comparison was meaningful.Secondly, aiming at the need to build a monitoring system model, ZigBee wirelesssensor node, sink node and gateway device were designed. Their respective functionswere data collection, communicating with the gateway and the integration ofheterogeneous networks. The design included: hardware structure, printed circuit boardand software hierarchical structure.Finally, taking into account the characteristics of oilfield environment and monitoringrequirements, a networking scheme was proposed, which balanced the reliability and thecost. Further, software system and hardware system have been debugged by building amonitoring system model. The test contents included network performance, transmissionperformance and the performance of network integration. Experimental results showedthat the overall system was feasible in a laboratory environment.
