Slab clamp is a special spreader that used in the handling of continuous casting slabin large steel mills, which belongs to the special lifting equipment in metallurgical industry.It bears the task that palletizing the continuous casting that cutting from the continuouscasting line and then lift them to thefurnace rollers. The clamp arm fracture, the materialfalls and other accidents may occur in the process of holding the material because of thecomplexity of the clamp body, difficult to predict the movement of the clamping and thereliability of the clamping. The study of the mechanical properties of the clamp becomesparticularly important. because of the great dangerousness at the job site.Understanding the gripping principle of the slab clamp, analysis the various factorsthat affect the size of the clamp, Build the mechanical analysis moldelling of the clampaccording to the structure form and loading conditions of the clamp, derived the optimalsize of the clamp use the of c programming language. Build the model of the clamp usethe software proe, and analysis the mechanics and the mechanical characteristics of theclamp based on the analytical mechanics to know the forces of each main part of theclamp, and provides a theoretical basis for the loading of the finite element solution.Analysis the model with the finite element software, this article is mainly carried outto optimize the clamp arm, build the finite element model of the clamp arm, verify theclamping force reaches the maximum value or not in the corresponding size. Then theguide slide angle,friction and the strength of the clamp, analysis different coefficient andshape of the tonghead contact surface to know the impact on the clamping force. Finallyarrive at the optimization structure of the clamp clamp with the greatest clamping force.
