NIMBY movement is an environmental protest movement by which citizensexpress their environmental interests aspirations and fight for their rights. Withindustrialization and urbanization speeding up in our country, and citizens’consciousness of environment and right-protection awakening, NIMBY movement isparticularly prominent in environment of mass incidents in recent years, theenvironment is particularly prominent. At present, some local governmentdepartments deal with NIMBY movement by the mode of "without alarm, a alarmwill withdraw", which can not fundamentally solve the conflicts and contradictions,nor is conducive to cultivate public reason to participate in public affairsmanagement.Kornhauser’s "middle organization theory" thought, a normal social structureshould be determined by three layers of "political elite–middle organization–thepublic ", and middle organization plays an vital role in social stability. This articleobtains from the middle organization theory perspective, discuss the performance ofmedia in NIMBY movement, and put forward that opening public interest expressionchannels and establishing equal, efficient communication and dialogue mechanismbetween the government and the public are the key to deal with NIMBY movementcurrently. And government departments at all levels should pay full attention to playthe middle organization function of media, coordinate organic connections betweenall levels, build the two-way symmetrical communication platform between thegovernment and the public, and form the benign interaction between the government,media and the public, so that they can resolve the crisis of NIMBY movementfundamentally.
