Metal cutting has been the important step in the metal finishing processing. The sawing machine of steel pipe has high machining precision and high efficiency. By the use of metal cutting theory, the ls-dyna finite element software and the AdvantEdge FEM finite element software, this paper research the mechanics parameters of steel pipe sawing machine with three methods of metal cutting process.We makes the analysis of the structure and kinematic parameters during cutting process. And we can calculate the maximum cutting force and cutting power of different cutting parameters with the metal cutting theory, by which we can get the corresponding curve during the cutting progress.We simulate the process of metal cutting with the ls-dyna and AdvantEdge FEM finite element software. We obtain the cutting force, component force, the maximum cutting stress as well as cutting temperature of different parameters and analyze the change law linked to the different parameters. Furthermore, we acquire the change rules by the analysis between the component force and the cutting force, which proves the cutting force is mainly depended on the Y component force. At last, we verify the effectivity of the simulation by comparing the theoretical force and the simulating force.It manifest that we can use the three research methods of the cutting progress to offer valid guidance for the design of the steel pipe sawing machine, to predict the cutting force and temperature et al, to optimize the cutting parameters during the cutting progress and to provide the theoretical reference for the research of new product category of cutting machine.
