Cotton-like polyester fiber is a new type of differential fiber which is modified fromconventional polyester fiber. The third monomer (SIPE) was introduced into its macromoleculechain to increase hydrophilic groups of the fiber. At the same time, cross-sectional shape of thefiber was changed from circular, so that hygroscopicity and mechanical properties of the fiber arechanged.In this paper, the performances of cotton-like polyester fiber, Porel, Paster, PET, Cotton andtheir yarns as well as knitted fabrics are studied and compared to achieve the unique properties ofcotton-like polyester fiber. The technology of heat setting of cotton-like polyester knitted fabrics isimproved. And several kinds of visual-cotton-like knitted fabrics are designed in this paper.Firstly, this paper tested and analyzed properties of the five fibers and Siro yarns spinning bythe five fibers, the properties mainly includes the physical parameters and mechanical propertiesof the fibers, moisture regain, twist, hairiness, evenness, mechanical properties and surface frictioncoefficient of the yarns. The results show that the breaking strength and elongation of thecotton-like polyester fibers decrease; the moisture regain of cotton-like polyester yarns is higherthan Porel and Paster, and enjoy three times for PET. But, this yarn has low breaking strength, andthe friction coefficient is large, and have a lot of fine ends and short hairiness.Secondly, the orthogonal test is used to analyse the influence degree of fiber protective agentmass concentration,heat setting time and heat setting temperature to the properties of cotton-likepolyester knitted fabric.The results indicate that: temperature and fiber protective agent massconcentration are the important factors to the result of heat setting; The temperature of heat settingcould be improved when fiber protective agent is added in the process.And the fabrics have gooddimensional stability to washing,creasing,bursting strength and handle. And the effect of heatsetting technology is better under the condition: fiber protective agent mass concentration of110g/L,heat setting time of30s and heat setting temperature of140.Thirdly, performances of5kinds of knitted fabrics were tested and analyzed, and theperformances of cotton-like polyester knitted fabric ware compared with others.The performancesmainly include appearance, comfort and style of the fabrics and mechanical properties. The resultsshow that the anti-fuzzing and pilling performance of the cotton-like polyester knitted fabrics areobviously improved than that of conventional polyester knitted fabrics; compared with cotton fabric,the gloss of cotton-like polyester knitted fabrics is too high to have a comfortable visual; thesoftness, drape, moisture absorption, air permeability, warmth retention of cotton-like polyesterknitted fabric are better than Porel and Paster, but the wrinkle resistance, bursting strength andtensile resilience not.Finally, according to the conclusions above and the requirements of knitted apparel market,this paper developed some visual-cotton-like knitted fabrics.demands for knitted apparel products which healthy, comfortable and high cost-effective.
