CNC gantry boring and milling machine is important processing equipment in the machinery industry. The working stroke of the feeding system of gantry structure is generally too long to use a common screw-nut transmission mode. So the structural design of the feeding system proposed new conditions on the transmission, accuracy and cost. There’s been little reported on this kind of feeding system in the literature. In this paper, we studied the transformation of the ordinary gantry boring and milling machine to CNC one, which is of great significance for improving the technical level of domestic CNC equipment.Based on the work and research before, we proposed a new design of biaxial output feeding system on the gantry boring and milling machine. The mechanism and feasibility of biaxial output feed system of the CNC gantry boring and milling machine was studied; the stress analysis of the feed system was carried out; the biaxial output feed system was designed and molded with a12000Nm biaxial output.3D modeling and stress analysis of the important mechanisms of the feed system was done by the Solidworks Simulation software. The system rationality was tested by experiments for speed, temperature and torque. The result shows that this design is in line with expectations. This study provides a new way for optimizing and designing of the feed system of CNC gantry boring and milling machine in the future.
