Application Of Theory For Project Management In FGD Project

As an important auxiliary project of the construction project of heat-engine plant, Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) project has the characteristic of high-value investment, high requirement of craft and technique, complex project environment, numerous project participants, and strict demand of time limit for a project.Since the technique of FGD has only a short development period in China, many related craft and techniques are not mature. As a result, in order to achieve the scheduled goals of schedule, quality and cost, it is very important to have a high-level project management team to execute effective management in the FGD construction project.The paper first introduces the correlation theory of "Engineer, Procure, Construct"(EPC) management mode, analyzing the state-of-the-art and problem of EPC project in China, and focuses on the project quality management under EPC model. The paper then analyzes the characteristic and matters needing attention of FGD project management. Based on a particular example of FGD project in practice, the paper discusses the application of theory of EPC management into the FGD project. The paper analyses the management practice of the FGD project from the perspective of management mode, organization structure, and control measures of schedule, quality and cost of the project. Finally, the paper points out the existing problems and potential risks in both the project design phase and construction phase of the FGD project, and provides corresponding recommendations for improvement.
