Self-mobile transfer conveyor is widely used in large-scale open-cast mine, metallic mine, etc as the key equipment of bulk material handling complete equipment. When the distance between the working face of self-mobile crushing station and the working face of belt conveyor increases to a certain amount or they are in different working faces, self-mobile transfer conveyor is needed. The steel structure design of self-mobile transfer conveyor as bulk material conveying equipment, which is mainly supported by large size steel structure, needs consideration of both rigidity and strength. So, by using finite element analysis and structure optimization, the design of steel structure has important actual value in weight reduction, productivity improvement, and product competitiveness promotion, etc..Based on finite element method and mechanical principle, finite element analysis of equipment steel structure was worked out by using ANSYS. On the basis of structure feature, the steel structure was properly simplified, mechanical model was built, constrain conditions were added on the model, and mechanical performance analysis was done according to various working and load conditions.Depending on actual working conditions of self-mobile transfer conveyor and considering specific working methods and operational states,27kinds of working conditions were inducted, and comparisons of them were conducted. Analysis of structure rigidity and strength were carried out by using three typical working conditions which were selected out of the27cases. The engineering design of self-mobile transfer conveyor was completed as given design specification of relevant manufacturers. Finally, optimizing analysis and calculation were done specifically for receiving boom and discharging boom, and the optimization program was applied in practical projects.
