With the continuing lack of energy in recent years, energy saving has been put forward on the agenda of most countries in the world. As a major part of energy using, chemical industry has great potential in energy saving. Meanwhile, energy saving for chemical process plays an important role in chemical engineering. In this thesis, after the analysis of chemical process equipment unit and energy saving, the study is based on the ethylene oxychlorination process as the research object in Shanghai Chlor-Alkali Chemical Co., Ltd. After making a compare between three thermodynamics methods for energy analysis, exergy analysis is proved as an useful tool to study the process, show how the energy is converted, transferred and lost through the process and make quantitative analysis to get the energy utilization efficiency and energy loss data of the whole unit and each equipment. Based on the energy-use calculations and analysis of the equipment of the oxychlorination unit, the main direction for improvement of energy-saving is decided in this paper. The energy-saving equipment for the main improvement is oxychlorination reactor (DC201), the light component tower (DA201), compressed oxygen and air mixer machine (GB201). Some energy saving suggestions and several improving measures are proposed and evaluated for the oxychlorination unit.
