Performance Evaluation Of China's Listed Steel Companies

Iron and steel industry is not only China's traditional industries, but also the national economy of the pillar industries. With national economic development and industrial structure changes, as well as the acceleration of urbanization process, enhancing the operational performance of Iron and steel enterprises play a pivotal role in the achievement of China's industrialization and modernization. Meanwhile, listed companies of the steel industry are also one of the greatest plates that the investors pay attention to. This paper selects 36 steel companies'third quarter financial data of 2009, and use the combination of grey relational analysis and Analytic Hierarchy Process to conduct a comprehensive performance evaluation and analysis.First of all, this paper establishes a steel industry performance evaluation index system, and then use AHP to determine the weight of the various financial indicators. On this basis, use gray relational analysis to obtain the consolidated rankings of 36 companies. Finally, this paper gives an overview of the domestic steel industry's operating environment from two different perspectives of the world economic situation and the domestic economic situation, meanwhile, rank each company's profitability, ability to grow and other aspects according to layer under the guidelines. Then this paper carries out SWOT analysis according to a typical company and brings forward opinions on the development of the steel companies in the next few years.
