China and Japan is the world's largest developing country and major economic entity respectively. They play an important role in both region and world economy. Japan is one of China's important neighbors. Since former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's "ice-breaking journey" in 2006,Sino-Japanese political relations has been warmed, and bilateral economic and trade relations are also well-off, particularly the successful launch of China-Japan economic high-level dialogue mechanism, which has become an important platform to strengthen macro policy coordination and deepen economic and trade cooperation. Economic and trade relationship between the two countries has formed a mutually beneficial and win-win situation. However, under the circumstance of warm political relations, the "heat politics and heat economy" situation which people are looking forward to did not appear, on the contrary, there was a certain degree of "heat politics and cool economy" phenomenon. Although this phenomenon was due to general global economic downturn, but the great contrast between hot bilateral political relations and cool economy has to be paid great attention to.Based on concerns of national interests and economic development, the author chooses Sino-Japanese economic and trade cooperation status, problems and solutions of this period as a thesis topic. She hopes to explore Sino-Japanese economic and trade problems and the reasons of this period through systematic research and analysis, and raised the strategies and ideas. According to this objective, this paper applies theoretical, empirical and comparative approach, and analyzes Sino-Japanese economic and trade cooperation under the situation from trade with Japan, China-Japan investment, new areas of cooperation of a new era, which is also the main innovation of this article. On this basis, the paper puts forward problems of the Sino-Japanese economic and trade cooperation including the traditional history and political elements, unresolved chronically trade statistics differences problem and new problem such as trade friction and decreasing investment. This article explores the deep reasons of these problems and gives the countermeasures for further development from the area of trade, investment, new areas of cooperation. From point of Sino-Japanese trade volume, the development of Sino-Japanese trade is in good shape. Affected by the financial crisis, the rate of growth of Sino-Japan trade decreased slightly, but the absolute amount has remained increase. Sino-Japan trade commodity structure is stable, China's export mainly concentrated in the mechanical and electrical products, textiles and raw materials, base metals and products, furniture, toys and chemical products. Japan's main export products to China focused on mechanical and electrical products, base metals and products, chemical products, transport equipment, plastics and rubber. Sino-Japanese trade is mainly dominated by Japanese companies, which set up subsidiaries in China and trade with the parent company in Japan. While trade amounts is substantial, from the long term, it is unfavorable to strengthen international competition for China. In the area of investment, Japanese investment to China fell, but the financial services sector investment increased. The Japanese investment in China started late, but has been growing. In other areas of cooperation, energy cooperation in environmental protection and SME cooperation were prominent. The main problems of Sino-Japan economic and trade cooperation includes historical and political issues, trade balance, trade friction, the unchanged vertical division of labor, the low level of Japanese investment, unconcerned attitude about establishment of Sino-Japanese cooperative mechanism for Japan. The reasons for these problems, on the one hand, came from the imbalance of economic development between China and Japan, which caused some misunderstanding, and thus extended to the economic level; on the other hand, the reasons came from domestic enterprises. China's economy is in a stage of transformation and upgrade. There are disadvantages both in policy and operations. Labor-intensive products still account for a large proportion of export products. Enterprises in China lack of sharp and smooth market information capture systems. Although history and political issues can not been resolved in a short-time. Other problems can be expected to optimistic if China and Japan consult friendly on the basis of equality and mutual trust. To explore economic and trade cooperation measures for further development, the author believes there are operable measures as follows:resolve trade statistics issues, counter trade friction, which includes the establishment of an independent risk assessment agencies, signing of a mutual recognition of standards, strengthen the role of Chamber of Commerce and Industry associations, the implementation of diversified market strategy. For investment problems, the first thing we should guide is foreign investment structure. We should not only pay attention to the amount of foreign capital, but also to the foreign capital quality, thus promoting China's industry up-grade. Given the current global economic downturn, I believe that the foreign capital should target Japanese large multinational companies. As the Chinese and Japanese economies are strongly complementary, explore of the Sino-Japanese cooperation in other areas will have important practical significance. This article view that Sino-Japanese trade in services develop at different stages and different path. So we should strengthen cooperation in the service sector, especially the financial sector. While this change will take a long time, this trend is irreversible. Finally the author carried out her own thinking about China-Japan economic and trade cooperation from China and Japan respectively. Sino-Japanese economic and trade cooperation has stood in the new historical starting point. Attention of China-Japan high-level leadership, promote of East Asian cooperation and the flourishing development of regional cooperation will provide a vast platform for the further development of Sino-Japan economy and trade. In the context of the current international financial crisis, what China and Japan need most is a joint development and mutual benefits.
