State Grid Corp. of China is an important state-owned enterprise which relates to the national energy security and the nation's economic lifeline. As a technology-knowledge-intelligence-intensive power enterprise, how to improve business performance to adapt the development of corporate strategy and Competitive Market Environment has become the first priority for State Asset Regulatory Commission and State Grid Corp. Performance management is the core part of modern enterprise human resource management; it is the key link to improve the performance level of the whole company, win in market competition, and achieve strategic objectives. As the backbone of an enterprise's development, how to improve middle managers'performance is it is particularly important. This thesis has discussed the importance of grid enterprise practicing performance management, through reading and analyzing domestic and foreign relative technical literature and documents, doing research on the development of domestic performance management, and finally summarizing the performance management system and major assessment tools. Then took a power company as an example, analysis on the assessment of middle managers performance of the company was made to find out the problem in its performance management system and analyzed the performance management process. Thus a complete set of performance management system is designed according to the given company's conditions, from the authority which established the performance management system to the drawing-up of the assessment plan, performance evaluation interview, assessment and evaluation, application of examination and evaluation results, monitoring and complaints, etc. every important part of the implementation process has been considered and designed. I hope this would help to improve power companies' performance and middle-led performance management as well as inspiration for the middle managers.
