Research On The Housing Conditions And Countermeasures Of The New Generation Peasant Workers

In the last 30 yeas, with the reform and opening-up policy, peasant workers have made massive contributions to country's economic development and urban construction. However, their housing conditions are poor and worried. With the quickly development of urbanization and the pressure of transferring agricultural surplus labors, generational changes are visibly displayed, new generation peasant workers have become the main part. Compared to the old generation, they have stronger consciousness of social security and are more likely to live in the city and change into citizens, they are younger and better educated which help them to get more money in the future, and these advantages prove their housing problem to be resolved.The paper is divided into five parts.The first part introduces research background, significance, research content and methods. The second part first analyses the concepts and characteristics of new generation peasant workers and housing security, describes theoretical basis, then reviews related researches of scholars around home and abroad and introduces experience of improving living conditions of peasant workers in our country for references. The third part takes Dalian as an example, more than 200 questionnaires have been done. With these results, this article generalizes current states of the housing conditions of new generation peasant workers and analyses characteristics and problems. Then it analyses influencing factors of housing conditions using quantitative and qualitative methods. Income and education level are internal factors and housing security system, household registration system, the housing rental market, the participation of enterprises and local government's initiatives of urbanization are external factors. The forth part proposes suggestions those could improve housing conditions of new generation peasant workers. The most direct and effective way is perfecting the housing security system of urban and the key is improving self-protection ability of new generation peasant workers. At the same time, related measures have to be promoted simultaneously. The fifth part elaborates research conclusion in this paper, innovation point, limitation of the research and development forecast of the future.
