| A county is a basic administrative unit as well as the important basis of economic and social development. County economy is an important component of national economy and the economic unit with administrative nature. It does not only connect industry and agriculture, urban and rural areas, but also bridges macroeconomic and microeconomic. The vitality, strength and competitiveness of county economy are the support or even the sign of overall national strength. If counties are rich and well, so are the people and provinces. Otherwise, if counties are poor and weak, the people and provinces are in the same case.County economy difference is a universal phenomenon. If it's moderate and controllable, the county economy difference can stimulate regional economic development and get more resources for some cities to speed up the growth rate. When the economy develops to a better stage, the developed cities then drive the under-developed ones. Nevertheless, the economy difference must be controlled within limits. Or it will set back the motivation of developing economy and increase the conflicts among areas, which seriously impede the harmonious development of regional economy.This paper takes the economy difference in 51 counties (including 26 county-level cities) as object of study. Under the direction of the theory about region economy difference and harmonious development, the paper makes a deep and systematic study on the changing process, temporal and spatial features as well as influential factors of county economy difference in Jiangsu and also points out the law of economic development and the influential factors, which has an important theoretical and practical significance for making scientific county economy development strategies and building a harmonious society.This paper is divided into five chapters:Chapter 1 introduces the background and significance of the study, the definitions about relative concepts, the research methods and innovations. Chapter 2 introduces relevant theories and reviews about region or county economy at home and abroad. Chapter 3 takes time and space as main clues In terms of time, the paper takes the following aspects of per capita GDP as indexes: absolute difference, relative difference, industrial structure changes, polarization and so on. And then it discusses the changes of county economy difference from 1996 to 2009 as well as takes 1996,2000,2004 and 2009 as time points to discuss changing laws of comprehensive development of county economy. In terms of space, the paper uses the methods of gravity model and spatial autocorrelation to explore the spatial law and layout of county economy development. Chapter 4 summarizes seven influential factors that contribute to county economy difference of Jiangsu on basis of above research by using mathematical statistics method. Chapter 5 is the conclusion about the study results and also points out the limitations and defects of the study.Through the analysis of temporal features about the development of county economy difference in Jiangsu, it is found that the difference is expanding and the polarization is intensifying. Through the analysis of spatial features, the main reason of this expansion is that regional difference, that is, south, center and north of Jiangsu, is expanding, which contributes to over 85%. Developed counties mainly locate in the whole south of Jiangsu and part of central Jiangsu while less developed counties mainly locate in north and center of Jiangsu. Through comprehensive analysis, it is found spatial compact reduced and spatial heterogeneity strengthened. And the main factors that influence county economy difference in Jiangsu are fixed assets investment, industrial foundation, foreign investment, regional conditions, industrial structure, transport infrastructure, etc. |
