Discussion On Supplier Selection Of Manufacturing Enterprise In Supply Chain

Since the 21st century, the global competition has shifted from the competition among enterprises into the competition among supply chains. Suppliers, as the sources of supply chain, play a predominant role in supply chain. The traditional enterprise cooperative mode only highlights the current operation performance of the supplier, which neglects the development potential. First the definition and the correlation theory of supply chain and the relevant research results of supplier selection at home and abroad are introduced. Then some researches on the relationship between enterprises and suppliers are made and the necessity to build supply chain partnership with suppliers from the view of supply chain management is focused on. And the present situation of Chinese manufacturing and the main problems faced by manufacturing enterprises in supplier selection in supply chain are analyzed as well. Then based on the building principle of index system, a supplier evaluation index system was constructed and quantitatively described. Meanwhile, analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and data envelopment analysis (DEA) are emphatically analyzed by giving the calculating steps in detail, and through combining the two methods, a hybrid model DEA/AHP is put forward by using their complementary advantages in order to exert a scientific and effective evaluation on suppliers. In this model, data envelopment analysis (DEA) is used to generate the weights of alternatives from pair-wise comparison judgment matrices used in the analytic hierarchy process (AHP). Finally, an example from a manufacturing enterprise searching for supplier is taken to demonstrate the feasibility and validity of proposed evaluation indexes and model.The innovation in this paper lies in that it proposes that supplier selection should be combined with enterprise environment, establishes a scientific and comprehensive evaluation index system which is based on the theory of supply chain management, presents a hybrid model AHP/DEA to take the best of both models by avoiding the pitfalls of each. The research results of this paper provide the beneficial reference for the theoretical study of supplier selection for enterprises.
