Since 21st century, knowledge has played a leading role in our society, especially in enterprises. It gradually replaces capital, labor, land and other traditional productive factors as the most important resource. In such case, enterprises have been cofronted with unprecedented opportunities as well as challenges. After realizing its importance, they take knowledge as the strategic resource and the vital source for core competency. To meet the demand for knowledge, many companies bring in knowledge management as well as seek for cooperation and alliance with other organizations, and finally they get the knowledge they want from the mutual communications. Actually, among all types of cross-organizational cooperation, knowledge alliance is the most common one.Knowledge alliance breaks through the inter-organizational boundaries, provides a good opportunity for knowledge flows and has been globally implemented. The purpose of the enterprises'forming knowledge alliance is to obtain new knowledge, which involves knowledge transfer. Actually, knowledge transfer is one important activity of knowledge alliance and is also essential for companies to gain access to new knowledge. Knowledge transfer effect can reflect the amount of knowledge the companies gain lately and the value new knowledge brings in. Besides, it can affect the enterprises'willingness of continuing to carry out the knowledge transfer. Furthermore, it can determine whether knowledge alliance should exist or not. Thus, it is necessary to do research on the performance of alliance knowledge transfer. Based on this, the paper puts forwards the evaluation study on the performance of knowledge transfer in a knowledge alliance.Firstly, this paper, on the basis of literature review, analyzes the performance of knowledge transfer in a knowledge alliance from three aspects, including the principles, the factors and the Input-Output analysis of knowledge transfer. Besides, the author proposes the index system to evaluate the performance of alliance knowledge transfer. Secondly, this paper describes how to build the evaluation model of the performance of knowledge transfer, and then takes Cobb - Douglas production function as a prototype, based on Solow's residual value formula, to do reconstructons and extended research. Meanwhile, the author combines the above-mentioned evaluation index system to build up a mathematical model to evaluate the performance of alliance knowledge transfer. And this paper applies simulation software to the instantiated simulation. Finally, a case study is done to validate whether the mathematical model is feasible or not.
