The metallurgy slag which accounts for more than 70% of steel mill solid waste is the largest steel mill pollution. Rapid processing and utilization of slag have become a worldwide problem of steel industry.Baosteel started the new slag processing technology research in 1995. And Baosteel started to install and test production A-Ιslag type processing device in May 1998. On the basis of this technology Baosteel and MCC Baosteel made a second generation, then the new generation was put into industrialized production in the first quarter of 2004 called A-II type slag processing equipment. Both of the slag processing equipment are dealing with continuous slag, but the integral effect has not been very satisfactory. The main problem is frequent repairing crack and the leakage of slag. Therefore, how to solve the main problem becomes steel industry's responsibility.This paper mainly focuses on how to improve the roller's ability to do continuous production using the theory of project management. Finally, the pre-established continuous production ability is used for judging the project's results.First, a research method and a project organization structure must be established. In the planning process, an aim of our project is made by analyzing Pareto charts and SMART principles. And the aim is reducing the cracking times along the mouth and the leakage of drain slag along the chute, so that the roller's continuous production time can increase 120 hours per month. Second, make work breakdown diagram and give the responsibility matrix, so that a clearer division of the project module is made. Then in the implementation phase, we use some quality management tools such as fish bone diagram, FMEA to solve our given problems. Then we do the feasibility research on the improvement measures to confirm the possibility, and ultimately to implement. Finally, in the acceptance phase the whole project is checked by the documents and behavior rules and the pre-established aim which has been finished judging by trend chart. The continuous production time has increased 157 hours/month by May 2010.In the end, an essential conclusion is made and the future development of the roller continuous production is mentioned in the paper.
