Knowledge economy in the 21st century will be gradually occupy the international economic dominance, as the basic unit of knowledge innovation system, R&D team of the enterprises play an important role. The team members of all the enterprise R&D team are different, so it is necessary to understand the knowledge structure of team members, to make sure that we have all the right people and elements in the right place to effectively improve knowledge innovation performance of R&D team. In this process, the shared of mental models which cannot ignored, because it provide a new angle of view for the research about knowledge innovation performance of team ,from the level of both overlap and distribution of knowledge.This study, based on the background of enterprise employees increasingly diversified and the perspective of R&D team of the enterprise, firstly, introduce the connotation of the knowledge heterogeneity, shared mental model and knowledge innovation of R&D team , then discusses the correlation between knowledge heterogeneity, shared mental model and knowledge innovation performance of R&D team, and the mediating role of shared mental model.Based on the analysis on the basis of previous literature, questionnaire investigation, interview and careful analysis of data, reveal the relationship in the knowledge heterogeneity, shared mental model and knowledge innovation performance of R&D team. As follows:(1) Knowledge heterogeneity and shared mental model have a significant correlation.(2)Shared mental model and knowledge innovation performance of R&D team have a significant Positive correlation.(3)Shared mental model between knowledge heterogeneity and knowledge innovation performance of R&D team play an intermediary role.Finally, according to the above conclusions, this paper put forward practical recommendations on improving knowledge innovation performance of R&D team, and point out the limitations of the study and the research direction in the future.
