A large number of construction practices at home and abroad have proved that effective project management plays an important role in engineering field, which can promote the quality of a project, reduce the risk of safety incidents, shorten the duration and save cost. Schedule control of engineering projects is one of the project control goals, which not only has an effect on the cost of a project, but also has a direct bearing on the success or fail of the entire engineering project. Therefore, it is of practice value to study on the schedule management of engineering projects.Based on theories of project schedule management, this thesis analyzes the factors that have an influence on the schedule plan of LUDA oil field development engineering project and its relevant control measures. Inner factors and outer factors that affect the critical activities of project schedule are identified and analyzed respectively. Afterwards, technical measures, economical measures, management practices, and organizational measures have been taken in connection with each factor to insure the achievement of schedule goal of LUDA project on the premise of quality and safety. Economical benefits have been achieved by LUDA oil field development engineering project. In connection with current problems existing in schedule management of LUDA project, advice on disposal measures and proposals has been given to promote the schedule management level of Chinese offshore oil field development engineering projects. The further research can focus on the effects that cost and quality have on schedule management.
