The great effect of knowledge management for organization development and enterprises operation has generally been recognized in theory and in industry. Virtual team is the exactly suitable organization patterns to implement and apply knowledge management in groups which is under the specific environment that is cross-functional, cross-organizational and trans-regional and cross-cultural. The advantages of virtual teams rest with the different kinds of professional knowledge which the members own, and the knowledge synergy effect and the knowledge multiplier effect which is produced by the cross-subject knowledge sharing process within the members are the key of the activities of knowledge innovation, for instance, the new technique breakthrough, new product development and so on.The management theory knowledge and management practice knowledge are combined in this paper to study the problems of knowledge sharing in virtual teams. Firstly, the feature, causation and model of knowledge sharing in virtual teams are analyzed based on the correlative theory of virtual teams and knowledge sharing. And concludes that the feature of knowledge sharing in virtual teams is knowledge sharing based on network, and the common target is the fundamental causes of knowledge sharing needs, and reveals the inherent mechanisms of knowledge sharing in virtual teams is the knowledge appeal and knowledge assistance. On this basis, the concept of the effectiveness of knowledge sharing in virtual teams and the evaluation index system are brought forward. And the concept of the effectiveness of knowledge sharing in virtual teams is defined as the contribution to the common target of virtual teams which the members in virtual teams make through the knowledge sharing activities, and the evaluation index system is designed from both attitude and behavior. Secondly, the effectiveness factors of knowledge sharing in virtual teams are summarized according to the problems reflected from the questionnaire. Thefactors include the level of trust among members, the effectiveness of communication, team culture, team types, human resources management and other factors. Aiming at the factors, the responsive strategies are studied and proposed, including building a groupware suitable for virtual teams, setting up an Chief Knowledge officer (CKO) to coordinate the activities of knowledge sharing, strengthening the trust management in virtual teams, constructing the knowledge sharing-oriented culture, designing a performance incentive mechanism embodied knowledge sharing. Finally, Xi'an North Huashan Mechanical&electric Co., Itd is conducted an empirical study. The exploration which Huashan Company has done in knowledge sharing in virtual teams is analyzed by the factors to the knowledge sharing in virtual teams and the responsive strategies. And the improving ideas are put forward.
