In knowledge-based enterprises, knowledge is the core competence and primary resource. Therefore, knowledge sharing becomes the most important aspect in knowledge management. The thesis identifies the features of knowledge-based enterprises and analyzes their meanings. It also introduces seven key factors in the field of knowledge-based enterprises. Furthermore, the thesis discusses the features of knowledge sharing process and common dilemmas. Based on the discussion, four knowledge-sharing methods are proposed and explained in two dimensions by using Nonaka's knowledge-creating theory.Drawing upon the characteristics of knowledge-based enterprises and knowledge-sharing methods, and referring to the nature of knowledge, the knowledge-creating theory, and the common architecture of software development, the thesis proposes a reference model of knowledge sharing (KSM), which consists of three layers, namely cognition layer, functional layer, and resource layer. In the following part, the thesis describes the connotations and inter-relationships of each module, and then discusses how to implement knowledge sharing based on the proposed model. Finally, the thesis analyzes the application areas of KSM. Among them, the thesis mainly discusses how to evaluate knowledge sharing effectiveness based on KSM, by adopting the multi-level fuzzy evaluation method that belongs to the fuzzy algorithm. In the Case Study chapter, an architecture of the knowledge-sharing system is set up according to the knowledge-sharing model, which proposes a new way to solve the knowledge sharing problems in knowledge-based enterprises. Using actual situations and problems that occurred in a company (Infineon Technologies), the thesis makes suggestions to improve knowledge sharing.
