| Since the group of technical professionals has become an important force in China's technical innovation and international competition, the study on technical professionals' competence development bears a very important significance.In this study, the author finished the following work: firstly, the concepts of the technical professional, competence and competence development were defined. The concept of "the technical professional" was defined through its characters' analysis, the "competence" concept was gained based on literature review, and the concept of "competence development" was cleared in analyzing the competence forming process. Secondly, through analyzing the characters of the enterprise's technical professionals' competence development and combining the principles in determining the index, the index system of the enterprise's technical professionals' competence development was built.
