As the competition in China's banking industry is getting more and more intense, the requirement for operational management in banks is increasingly high. A large number of middle-level managers who are able to meet the requirements for banking development are in urgent need. In this circumstance, every bank has attached great importance to the criteria we should use to select, appoint and train these people.The researches on competence of human resources have achieved far-reaching fruits both home and abroad, but those with special focus in the financial industry are very limit. Based on the existing theory of competence of human resources and with middle-level managers as the targets for research, this paper combines the theory with practice and tries to establish the model for the competence structure of the middle-level managers.With the principles and techniques of psychometrics and statistics, this researcher sets up a structure questionnaire and all the statistics got through the questionnaire are analyzed by SPSS 10.0.The result shows that there are eight factors in the competence structure of middle-level managers in banks, which are:Risk Consciousness & Control Capacity,Performance Consciousness & Manage Capacity,Team Relationship & Organize Capacity,Communicate Skills & Correspond CapacityProblem Adaptability & Balance CapacityProfessional Knowledge & Operate CapacityGood Personality & Self-control CapacityInnovative Attitude & Development CapacityA model for the competence structure of the middle-level managers in banks has been preliminarily built up.Research findings of this paper will offer a reference for the selection, appointment, training, evaluation and management of the middle-level managers for banks' human resources management.
