Evaluation On Competitiveness Of Qingdao Container Terminal And Study On Strategies Of Its Development

With the rapid development of international shipping industry and the globalization of economy, container terminals plays a more and more important roles in the global transportation system. The development of container terminals will enhance the economic prosperity of the area and the country which the terminals is situated in. So the competitiveness of container terminals raises the attentions from government and society of countries.There are plenty of the studies on the competitiveness of container terminals, but most of them locate the competitiveness of container terminals on the phase of the competitiveness of corporations. Based on the divisions of the competitiveness from the theory of competitiveness, this thesis deems that it is not enough to study on the competitiveness of container terminals just remaining on the phase of the competitiveness among corporations. We should probe into the factors which influence the competitiveness of container terminals from the phase of the competitiveness among industries.As the third biggest container terminals in mainland, Qingdao container terminal has a distinct predominance over its competitors in north China, but compared with the Busan in Korea with lead the container business in northeast Asia, Qingdao container terminals still has a long way to go.Based on analyzing the status in quo of Qingdao terminals, the thesis uses the target system model to analyze the port competitiveness between Qingdao, Dalian and Tianjin. According to the evaluated result, the thesis concludes the leading status of Qingdao among the three main ports of north China. Then the thesis tries to spot the real competitors of Qingdao port in the northeast of Asia. At last, the thesis makes clear of the developing goal and strategic orientation of Qingdao terminal, brings forward the developing strategies for the enhancement of competitiveness of Qingdao container terminal.
